The How to Use WebQuests in the K-12 Classroom

Introduction/Purpose

The purpose of this HyperQuest to familiarize teachers with the purpose and uses of WebQuests in K-12 classrooms.

Task

You are a classroom teacher and you want your students to study the rainforest using Internet resources.  The computer teacher recommends that you use a WebQuest to accomplish this goal.  S/he advised you that aimless searching by kids is often unproductive and dangerous!

Your goal is to preview ten or more WebQuests appropriate to:

  • your goals
  • your students' reading levels
  • your students' maturity levels

Conclusion

Show two other teachers on your campus a WebQuest that you felt was useful at your grade level.  Explain how you can use WebQuests as effective curricular tools that use the Internet in your classroom.
