Using Graphics Converter
Tutorial

Double click on the Graphics Converter icon to open the program.

  • Since this is a trial version, it takes about 6-8 seconds for the program to open.
  • When the program opens, your desktop looks like this:

To open a file:

  • File > Open

Navigate to your file (bbird.jpg) and click Open:

Your graphic appears in Graphics Converter:

Using the sizing window in the bottom left of your picture, choose a convenient size to view your graphic:

PLEASE NOTE:

This does not change the image size. It changes only the way you VIEW it on your screen!

To change the size of the graphic:

  • Picture > Size > Scale

A dialog box will appear:

  • Change the percent from 100 to whatever size is appropriate for your use (60% in this example).
  • Your image is now resized.

To check the memory allocation for your newly resized graphic:

  • Picture > Show Information
  • An Information Dialog Box appears showing a variety of information including the memory allocation for the graphic. it this case, the graphic is 232.9 KB

Save your graphic with a new name (bbird2.jpg), thus keeping your original untouched.

To crop your graphic:

  • Click on the crop tool in your toolbar (circled).
  • Move your cursor to your picture.
  • Place your cursor in the top left corner where you wish to begin the crop.
  • holding down your mouse button, drag to the right and down.
  • Release you mouse button when you are satisfied with your crop.
  • Everything outside your crop line will be cropped (deleted).

A dialog box will appear:

  • Edit > Trim Selection
  • Click OK
  • Your cropped graphic will appear.

Save your graphic with another new name, thus keeping your original and the second version untouched.

  • File > Save as...

A dialog box appears:

  • Rename your graphic (bbird-small.jpg)
  • Change the format if needed by clicking on the arrows to the right of format and selecting the format you wish.

Your renamed graphic appears.

To find out the memory allocation of your final graphic:

  • Picture > Show Information
  • An Information Dialog Box appears showing a variety of information including the memory allocation for the graphic. it this case, the graphic is 11.4 KB

Congratulations! You can now use Graphics Converter to enhance your graphics files!
