The
Pilgrim Life Adventure
http://projects.edtech.sandi.net/kimbrough/pilgrimlife/
First Grade
This lesson allows the students to learn about Pilgrim life and compare it to their own life. It is very exciting and has links with pictures about Pilgrim life. It has exactly what the teacher needs to say to the children with well defined directions for the students. It involves whole class, individual, cooperative groups, and small group instruction.
Just
Winging It!
http://projects.edtech.sandi.net/encanto/justwingingit/
Kindergarten through Second Grade
This lesson has beautiful and colorful pictures of butterflies that the students get to examine, compare, write about, and draw. After this lesson the children will be able to identify the basic body parts of an insect and become familiar with the life-cycle of a butterfly.
THE
HORRIBLE NO GOOD VERY BAD DAY
http://projects.edtech.sandi.net/hawthorne/badday/index.htm
First Grade
The book, The
Horrible No Good Very Bad Day is a very popular book with First Graders;
therefore it is a good book to use for motivating them to write. After reading the book they get to draw
a picture and write about a very bad day that they have had. It also, has a link to poems (which
unfortunately doesn’t have to do with the subject). There are several mistakes in this WebQuest, but it is still
one I would like to use because it gets the children writing about their
personal experiences.
Planet Web Quest![]()
Third Grade
This is a fun and exciting WebQuest for learning about the planets. It is well written and has excellent directions and steps for the children. All the links and papers needed are included and a check off list at the end to make sure they didn’t miss anything. There are many interesting links that are right at their interest level; they are colorful and very informative.

This WebQuest is an excellent site and very
comprehensive. It guides the
children through the reading of Charlotte’s Web introducing vocabulary and
activies along the way. It also, includes
a very interesting author study of E.B. White.
The Three Little Pigs
A WebQuest for K-First Grade
This WebQuest compares and contrasts three versions of the Three Little Pigs. First the children will listen to the stories and after each story determine the main character, setting, and if it is fantasy or reality. Finally, the children will write their own version. This site has a lot of advertising links under resources. It doesn’t list the standards, but it has exactly what the First Grade standards cover for reading.
