Introduction:

Have you ever wondered why you can't keep your eyes open when you sneeze?  Have you ever woken up in the morning and wondered why your muscles are sore?  Have you ever wondered why some times when you really feel the need to use the restroom but can't seem to go?  Have you ever lost feeling in your hand and wondered why?  Have you ever wondered why some people tend to get sick more often than others?

These and many other questions you and your classmates will be answering by the end of this quest of the human systems.

Task:

This project that you will be doing is on the different human systems.  The different systems that your group may need to study include: the nervous system, the digestive system, the respiratory system, the circulatory system, the lymphatic system, the reproductive system, the excretory system, the muscular system, the endocrine system, and the skeletal system.

The class will divide up into groups of 4 students. Within these cooperative groups each student will be given an area of study that they will need to attempt to draw conclusions from.

In the end your group will need to display the information that they find along the way as a class project. Your group will need to create a multimedia presentation that will be shared with the class and graded. You may want to include a suggested list of readings and/or Internet sources that may be of interest to the class.

Process:

You are a group of 4 medical students who need to find out about your given system. Your information needs to include:

Which organs make up the system

Explanation as to how the system functions

Diagrams and/or illustrations of the system

Disorders associated with the system

Explanation as to how the system works in homeostasis with the other systems

Resources:

Each group will have a group of web sites they will be using to gather their information. Go to the website that has the information your group needs.
