This is a great site for students to find answers to questions they have about math topics. They can look under the topics, or they can send a question of their own to Dr. Math.

This is a great site for students (and parents) who are looking for answers to questions. You just type in your question, and this search engine returns sites that can answer your question.

 

Childrens Discovery Museum

This site provides engaging on-line and off-line interactive activities, focusing on the areas of science, mathematics and literacy for preschool and elementary-aged children. Teachers can search for activities by grade level and can also register for an online newsletter that contains creative activities for children.

 

SprocketWorks

"An interactive place for kids (and adults) to learn the way that they choose to learn." Too much fun! This site uses shockwave files to let you tour the night sky, play logic games, and learn how to groom a horse. Plan on spending some time on this site trying out the different areas. Covers music, economics, science, art, and geography. This is one of those websites where you can't help but learn something.

 

The Space Place

In both English and Spanish, the Space Place includes activities and information related to the exploration of outer space, as well as Earth from space. Dr. Marc's amazing facts tie space science into their everyday lives. Toward the bottom of the page, you will find the teacher's section with lesson ideas

 

Create a Graph

The National Center for Education Statistics created this online tool so that anyone can make an area, bar, pie or line graph and print it out or download the image to a computer or disk. Older students can benefit from the link that shows how graphs can be used in probability. Younger students will quickly learn the difference between the left X and Y axis when they need to create their own line graphs

 

Mathletics

Mathmatics + Athletics = Mathletics...a natural combination. One math application is given for baseball, basketball, bowling and football. Part of the previously reviewed Blue Web'n site "What Good is Math?"

 

Mad Scientist Network

The MAD SCIENTIST NETWORK is an interactive 'Ask a scientist' interface staffed by scientists actively engaged in science education and research at institutions around the world. Anyone with access to the Web or e-mail may submit a question to be answered by members of the network. Answers often include links to Web resources and work through the logic behind the answer. This is a great resource for teachers looking for resources for math of any kind. It is sorted out by grade levels, and then by subject. Not only are there resources about any math topic, but there are great lesson plans too.

 

Explorer (Science Resource)

The ExplorerTM is a collection of educational resources (instructional software, lab activities, lesson plans, student created materials ...) for K-12 mathematics and science education. You may browse through mathematics and science education curricula (we plan to expand to other curricula) or conduct searches that focus on specific interests

This is a great site for teachers and students who do not want to dissect a REAL frog. The students can dissect a virtual frog named Fluffy,. They can also make a movie about their dissection, and play a virtual frog builder game.
