This is a kid friendly site that teaches about plants.  The main character is modeled after a super sleuth.  There are real pictures of plants and flowers. Interactive activities like answering questions pertaining to what was taught on the site are motivating and engaging.

This site allows children to explore some of the components of the Magic School Bus program.  There are games to play and places to visit.  The characters from the book and the TV show are all present and active.  The graphics are engaging and bright.

With an easy to use and ever present alphabet strip at the top of this site, children can click on a letter and see pictures beginning with that letter.  There are links from those pictures to other sites.  This is a great way to introduce children to the Web.

This is a scholastic site, which takes you through information about the first astronauts in space.  There is a lot of reading, but it is interesting and appropriate for children.  There are many real pictures from the first space mission.

This site show beautiful pictures of the planets, nebulas, supernovas, and galaxies taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.  Children can click to enlarge the photos for a close-up view.  Each picture comes with a description of what you are looking at.

Children can see pictures of many different planets and moons from different spacecrafts or from other planets.  You can choose the date and time and how big of a picture you want to see.  The pictures are excellent.

This site is developed and maintained by the Science Museum of Minnesota.  There is an alphabetical listing of information from antibiotics to metamorphosis to zoo machines.  There are slide shows and movies to watch on many topics.  This is a colorful, interesting encyclopedia.

This is NASA’s website for kids.  It lets kids learn about living in space, rockets and airplanes, and planets.  Kids can send e-postcards to people.  Games include picture puzzles, word puzzles, and quizzes and mazes.  This is a very interactive site with great visuals.

 

AAA Math

This is a very basic website that allows kids to practice facts from all skill areas.  Kindergarteners can practice counting blocks, third graders can multiply numbers, and eight graders can turn fractions into percents.  This is purely a tutorial.  This is not a site you would have students work on for long periods of time but it does help make drill and kill better than on paper.

Kids can create an area, pie, bar, or line graph on this website.  It teaches children about the x axis and the y axis.  Students can enter their own data and the program will make the chosen graph.  This is very easy to use.

Abraham Lincoln asks for exact change as he sells you items on this site.  The easy game keeps track of how much you have paid him as you click on the correct coins.  The hard game does not keep track for you.  This is a simple game with cute graphics and sounds.
