Isosceles Triangle Conjectures

This is a great geometry site which guides students through developing a better understanding of isosceles triangles. It also includes a downloading of Geometer's Sketch Pad. Excellent site, very interactive!

Virtual Polyhedra

This site is a collection of over 1000 virtual reality polyhedra for students to explore. The site includes software to download to make viewing possible.

Geometry Through Art

The focus of this sight is what children can learn about art and geometry. This site has lot of information on it and would need to be previewed by the teacher before children attempt to do an activity. It includes a section which shows paper models. You may need to download some files to view the graphics as 3-D images.

Geometry Glossary

This is a glossary which gives simple definitions of geometry terms, suitable for intermediate students includes small graphics. "This is a graphics-intense page, although almost all of them are small. Caution: This file is about 60 KB, even without the graphics." Figures and Polygons

This site can be used to extend or reinforce classroom experiences. It consists mostly of definitions of polygons and simple pictures. It is mostly a factual site with] examples and a few non-examples.

The History of Geometry

This site gives a brief history of the origins of geometry. It includes lots of good links. Make sure to visit the Egypt link and look for the picture that gives you a moveable view from the top of one of one of the pyramids, Khufu.

Classroom Geometry Activities

This site is a collection of 3 activities that math teachers can try in the classroom. They include a step-by-step procedure for building an icosahedron, some information on tilings and making regular cube out of puzzle pieces.

ClarisWorks and Tessellation's in Color

This is a site that has step by step directions for using ClarisWorks to produce tessellation's.

This site has great graphics in the form of various geometric activities which can illustrate different principles.

The Cereal Box Problem

This is a lesson in expected value for children who love to buy the box of cereal that has the coolest prize. How much does that prize really cost? A Lesson in Expected Value. How many boxes of cereal would you expect to have to buy, to get all six prizes?

Women in Math

This site has biographical information about women in math. Students can pull up the data on a particular mathematician and get other information such as where the mathematician worked. This a good place for referring girls to do research about careers in math.  

Clever Games for Clever People

A collection of explanations for several math games. The explanations proceed in step by step sequence with accompanying pictures. The games are intended to help kids begin developing a deeper understanding of math through play.

This is a resource page that has hyperlinks to various cool sites intended for children. All of the sites on this page are related to the solar system. Many of the links go to NASA sites. These are excellent resources for finding pictures.

NASA's photo journal

This site allows the user to look up photos of each of the planets taken by different spacecraft and telescopes.

The Moon

A lot of information about the sun includes photos, links and a lot of information categorized by topic.

See the Light

This is a website devoted to teaching people about light. The site includes an outline of topics and is sequential in its design. It is designed to be used as a tutorial. A good site for students and teachers!

Amazing Space

This is a collection of space resources for children. It includes the history of the telescope, information about galaxies and many other links. This site requires some prior exploration by the teacher.

SciCentral K-12 Science

This site includes some great resources for science. There are lists of topics, including "Ask an Expert" resources as well as listings of science topics. Each subject are links takes you out to a lot more good links.

ENVIRONMENTAL PAGES

Recycle City

This is a great place for your students to learn online about recycling. It is interactive and allows the students to pick the places they want to go and what they want to learn about. It is very visually appealing, user friendly and includes lots of information.

Environet

This is a collection of links related to environmental topics. This is perfect for teachers who are looking for resources to help their teaching of environmental topics in the classroom. Many of the sites are suitable for students to look at photos and look for more information, but they need to be previewed and bookmarked by the teacher.
