Lesson Plan 1

Paper Airplanes
Grade Level: 4-6

Description: This lesson on paper airplanes is vague.

Lesson Plan 2

Hot Air Balloons
Grade Level: K-3

Description: This lesson on hot air balloons sounds like it would be fun to do with my students. Students explore non-engine powered flight, and make their own "pretend" hot air balloon to launch.

Lesson Plan 3

Chameleons
Grade Level: 3

Description: This lesson on Chameleons sounds like it would be fun to do with my students. Students learn about chameleons by listening to a story, discussing chameleons' habits and how they survive, recording facts, and writing and sharing observations of a live chameleon in a journal. I might extend this lesson by having the students make a paper mache chameleon to match the background of a picture to demonstrate that they camouflage with their surroundings.

Lesson Plan 4

Valentine Candy Count
Grade Level: 1-4

Description: This activity provides a fun and exciting method through which children can explore and internalize graphing skills. This would be fun to do around Valentine's Day.

Lesson Plan 5

Tantalizing Tessellations
Grade Level: 4-5

Description: As a culminating activity, students could create a classroom quilt. The quilt will be a combination of a geometric shape (the square piece of paper) and a geometric transformation (translation, rotation, or reflection). This mathematical topic can also be explored in other subjects. Quilts, and the importance of quilts, can be studied through social studies.
