Summary: This lesson should work well if
it is used as a opportunity for discussion before teaching the facts about
knowing how to tell time. This will encourage student collaboration on the
concepts of time. There is not a
lot of preparation time required. The suggestions for extending this lesson
would be to incorporate several subject areas besides Math.

Summary:
In this lesson plan, the
class examines a set of dinosaur tracks found at a "construction
site" (site created by
teacher) and then come up with ideas as to which dinosaur made the
tracks and what dinosaur behaviors might be revealed by the tracks. Students
will have experience with collection and evaluation of field data. Students
will have the opportunity to interact with each other as they compare and
contrast the different conclusions they have come up with about the dinosaur
prints.

Summary:
In this the students learn about three-dimensional
shapes as they design their house using 3-D shapes. This activity does not
incorporate technology, but we should be able to find software that would allow
the students to convert their ideas and use of geometric shapes into a house of
their own creation.

This is
a great hands-on unit that will teach the students how people can depend on
food sources that are native to their local area for survival. The unit helps students to understand
ways in which we can help animal herds survive and how we are all dependent on
one another for our survival.

Summary:
A great
hands on activity to do with your students that will help them learn how clouds
are formed. The site has on-line links to cloud vocabulary words and also
weather sites that the students can visit.
You can
involve the students in a discussion about clouds and ask them to make
predictions about what they think will happen when you do the experiment. After the activity is finished, the
class can discuss their conclusions.
