EDT 555 - Web page evaluations

Evaluation is based on 5 criteria gathered from the course - Text, Navigation, Links, Graphics and General Design.

The Rubric references follows with mouse trap reference criteria.

Each site was gauged by each of the five criteria with the best score receiving 5 mouse traps and the least 1.

Mouse Traps
Text	No background interruptions Big enough to read  Hierarchy is clear     Columns are narrower		Some background issues Some text height issues Hierarchy needs polish      Columns a bit too wide		This makes more sense Text...background So that is where that page is...put the book down for a minute		There is the text, I think Oh, I see 5 font sizes So we start in the middle and work backwards		Background interruptions pervasive                    Hand me a glass or telescope It would be easier to read the book
Navigation	Buttons easy to understand and use Frames are clear     Index site or map Coherence between parts		This is a piece of cheese            You can put it any where and find it		Where is that dirty rat that  I don't need, I think         Oh I see where to go to get almost there		The dirty rat helped me We kinda noticed the frames                   Found the beginning but not the middle		I keep running into the trap                                    I been framed                  I'm amazing                    So where is the cheese
Links	Coordinated colors with page, Underlined		So, there is a purrrpose		That cat is leading somewhere		I see the connections but where is...		A lynx is a cat
Graphics	Not big and bowser  Alt labels a plenty Matching text Browser safe colors  No crazy dances		Clear as day Maybe one too many pics		Oh you want me over there and I see what you are saying, mostly		I see the picture and can adjust Will you sit still		Will someone let bowser out if we know where that is Lots of nice pictures but what??
General	Got here and out quick Can read without calling up the mouse Nice balance All nicely tailored		I could sleep like a cat with all this clarity and coherence		The rat is not needed here but he was handy when lynx was lost		I get some of this but am still too busy to know I am going deaf from clicking noises		I am so busy, I do not know what cheese is All those colors, and pics and lynxes is making me scared

Weaknesses: Too simple, restricted graphics

Site - Seque learning solutions	Ratings
Description: A web learning portal for a variety of curricula
Strengths: Simple
Weaknesses: A web site in transition, that needs help

Site - Global Schoolhouse	Ratings
Description: A virtual community of teacher and educational resources and links
Strengths: Interesting and attractive text and graphics. solid, color scheme and connective pages
Weaknesses: Waste space especially the Site Map page

Strengths: Page consistency with colors, links and tabs
