Review of Design Elements

FunBrain.com: Excellent use of color. Primary colors used in a way that was very attractive yet did not detract from the actual page. Many graphics, none of which were animated. Appropriate to page audience (students and teachers). Navigational bars at top and bottom. Side menu with pull down menu to choose a specific subject. Page loaded very quickly due to few excessively sized files. This is a very good site. There are many ways that it can be used.

myschoolonline.com: Color was not overly attractive but it was not distracting either. Few graphics, used with the idea to help people navigate, however they were not links and did not really help the viewer. Too much data on a single page, which did not fit on the screen. Pages loaded very quickly. A lot of useful resources however a bit overwhelming to sift through.

infoplease.com: Color use was consistent. There was a blue theme created with red accents for links. It was not especially attractive, but it worked. Not too many graphics, some current event pictures that were small. Navigational bar at top and on side but it was difficult to determine what was plain text and what was links. Page loaded quickly. A lot of interesting information with a current events feature.

yahoo.com: Blue words, white background, not much else going on there! Six obvious graphics, small icons that help navigate through the site. Navigational links at top and through out. A lot of links, but they are easy to discern. Page loads much slower than other pages, but I always attribute that to the amount of people who log on. One of my favorite sites, only because I house my main email address there.

azcentral.com: Dark text on a white background. Not especially eye catching. Quite a few very small graphics, mostly links to other businesses, some related to the news. Navigational bars at top and bottom, but page was very long and had no internal links. Lots of scrolling required. Page is very big, and considering that I have high speed internet, it took more time! I use this page but there is too much stuff all together.

firstfederalcu.org: Dark text on a white background. Most of the site is graphics, so color does not play too much of a role. Appears to be one graphic with many hot spots to link the viewer. The page scrolls under the banner which includes a navigational bar. Pretty neat idea, navigational bar always on page. I find this page attractive and easy to work with.

Stevens High School:I am guessing that the school colors are red and white, those are the only colors on the page. I am also guessing that the maskot for this school is the Cardinal, that is the only graphic to be seen on front page. The page navigates with a side bar. This is a very simple site, there's nothing there that is unsightly, however it will not win any prizes for style.

Loma Linda School: Dark blue text on a gray background. Text stands out, blue is probably one of the school colors. O picture of the school, not too large. The mascot is in both corners, but image not turned so it looks kind of non symetrical. No navigational bar. Navigate through a HUGE table. The table does not fit on one page so viewer must scroll down and sideways to see all options. This definately looks like a site in progress.

Sands Middle School: Ew! really bad color use. ugly color gackground shocked my eyes as soon as it loaded. Chose something off of a seventies graphics site? Only one image is used, the Cartwright School District symbol. They distorted its shape badly, so it looks unfamiliar even to the eyes of a district employee. There is only a front page, no links to anything other than a back to Disrtict web site link. This site looks like it was developed with out any thought in style or functionality.

Davidson Elementary School: Nice purple borders used with a dark text. Body of site was graphics that did not load at all. This site is under developement, it has a navigational bar on left side, with only one of four things linked. Loaded slowly and than did not even load completely. This site has some potential.
