Vose Elementary School, Beaverton, Oregon

Use of Color:

I thought the use of color was very good. The school's banner and navigation buttons were very colorful. 

Graphics:

The graphics were good and not overly done. The clickable image map of the school was very good.

Organization of Data:

The site does not use navigation bars or shared borders. "Back to the main page" ends each page. However it is a small site and I found it easy to navigate. It was last updated in July of 1997. 

Speed which pages load:

The speed was average. There were not a lot of photos to download.

Overall Quality

I would describe the site as functional, straight-forward and on a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 6

Nye Elementary, San Diego, CA.

Use of Color:

This site was very colorful. A lot of colored text, but it seemed to work well in this site. The banners and page titles were very distinctive so you always know what site you're in. 

Graphics:

Graphics were not overdone. They were appropriate and added to the page where they were used.

Organization of Data:

Data was well organized. Lots of links--Perhaps too many links to resources outside the web site. Good use of tables and good navigation.

Speed which pages load:

Pages loaded quickly--not many picture or graphics

Overall Quality

This site is colorful and cheery. Lots of links to explore. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it an 8. Last updated April 2000

Westwind Academy Charter High School, Phoenix, AZ.

Use of Color:

Not a lot of color.

Graphics:

Several graphics. Home page graphics were well done--unique.

Organization of Data:

Well organized. Straight forward. Pages mostly text with pictures.

Speed which pages load:

Pages seemed somewhat slow because of the pictures. The drop-down menus on the home page operated very slowly

Overall Quality

On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 6. Last updated Sep. 2000

Peoria High School, Dept. of  Special Ed., Peoria, AZ.

Use of Color:

Very good use of color. Very professional looking. Not overdone.

Graphics:

Very good use of graphics. Appropriate, varied, not overdone.

Organization of Data:

Very good organization. Excellent navigation including detailed description of user friendly features. Search capability. Mouse-overs, drop-down menus and navigation bars.

Speed which pages load:

Speed was very good. Last updated Sep. 2000

Overall Quality

On a scale of 1 to 10 it gets a 10

Selma Olinder University Elementary School, San Jose, CA.

Use of Color:

Good use of color. Text is black and navigation buttons are blue. Color is added through the inclusion of colorful pictures of school and staff.

Graphics:

A few graphics. The Home Page banner is very colorful and distinctive.

Organization of Data:

Simple organization. A paragraph of text and one or two pictures per page. No navigation bars--long lists of links to other pages.

Speed which pages load:

Pages were slow due to the number and size of pictures.

Overall Quality

On a scale of 1 to 10 it gets a 5. 

Lakeshore Alternative Elementary School, San Francisco, CA.

Use of Color:

Except for pictures of the school and students there was not much color. Mostly black text and colored links.

Graphics:

Very few graphics

Organization of Data:

This was a small site with few graphics

Speed which pages load:

Good speed except for the Home Page that included a large picture.

Overall Quality

On a scale of 1 to 10 it gets a 4. Last updated April 1997

Highland Park Elementary, Austin, TX.

Use of Color:

Lots of color. Home Page is one large colored graphic. Much of the text is in color as well.

Graphics:

Good use of graphics. Not overdone. Colorful navigation bars and banners.

Organization of Data:

This is a large site and well organized. Table of contents and long lists of outside links.

Speed which pages load:

Very good. Site is mostly text. Last updated April 2000

Overall Quality

On a scale of 1 to 10 it gets a 7

Arbor Heights Elementary, Seattle, Washington

Use of Color:

Most of the color came from the many small graphics used as navigation buttons.

Graphics:

Graphics are widely used as navigation buttons. It was very effective in this site. Tasteful and well organized.

Organization of Data:

Organization was very good. Good use of tables and text. Table of contents available and full text for text only browsers. Search capability and information forms available.

Speed which pages load:

Pages loaded very well. Last updated July 1998

Overall Quality

On a scale of 1 to 10 it gets an 8

Buckman Elementary School, Portland, Oregon

Use of Color:

Some color. Very clean looking. 

Graphics:

Not many graphics. They kept it simple and professional looking.

Organization of Data:

Navigation bars at the bottom of pages. Additional links in left-hand column. Good use of tables and easy reading page design.

Speed which pages load:

Pages loaded very well. Last updated June 2000

Overall Quality

On a scale of 1 to 10 it gets a 6

Los Alamos High School, Los Alamos, NM.

Use of Color:

Good use of  color. Two primary colors consistently used throughout the site. 

Graphics:

Appropriate graphics. Not overdone. Graphics and pictures are small on main pages--larger and load slower on some of the specialized pages such as clubs and classrooms.

Organization of Data:

Search capability. An appealing banner. Last updated Sep. 2000

Speed which pages load:

Generally very good except for some pages that had large pictures of students or classrooms.

Overall Quality

On a scale of 1 to 10 it gets an 8

Tesseract Schools, Eagan, MN.

Use of Color:

Good use of color. Not overdone. Interesting color pictures that have modified with soft edges and faded colors.

Graphics:

One or two major graphics on each page and large.

Organization of Data:

Simple navigation. Navigation bars at bottom of pages. Simple tables and wide text. Last updated Oct. 2000

Speed which pages load:

Pages were slow due to the large pictures on each page

Overall Quality

On a scale of 1 to 10 it gets a 5
