Step by Step Directions

• Review the Concept of HyperQuests
• Open Microsoft Word
• Copy the HyperQuest Template
• Paste the Template into ClarisWorks
• Decide on a Topic for your HyperQuest
• Use any of the following search engines to locate information on your HyperQuest topic
  • KidsClick
  • Ask Jeeves for Kids
  • Yahooligans
  • EduHound
• Bookmark each page you wish to use as a link in your HyperQuest
• Substitute your information by typing in the Template, replacing any unneeded text
• Add your links to the Template
  
  • In Word, type the name of websites you wish to link to:
    
    
  

   

  • Open your Internet browser (Explorer or Netscape)
  • Navigate to the site where you wish your students to go:
    
    
  

   

  • Highlight the URL

   

  

   

  • Copy the URL:
    
    
  

   

  • Move back to your Word launch page
  • Hightlight the text that will become a link:
    
    
  

   

  • Go to Insert > Hyperlink:
    
    
  

   

  • The following dialog box will appear:
    
    
  

   

  • Paste the URL in the box for the URL:
    
    
  

   

  • Click OK
  • Your text will now appear blue and underlined to indicate that it is a link
  • Repeat the process until all of your links are completed
• Finish writing your HyperQuest
• Save your Launch Page
• Place on the school server in a place you and your students can access it
• Congratulations! You have just completed your HyperQuest using a Word Launch Page !
