As the
Internet grows, so do the opportunities for doing in-depth
research using online resources. Dr. Alice Christie will
showcase the ever-growing Internet resources that students
and teachers can use to enhance their learning. She will
discuss effective strategies for using search engines, ways
to locate and use searchable online databases and online
encyclopedias and almanacs, strategies for using and
creating online field trips, ideas for using online
simulations or web cams, and strategies for finding and
using primary source material. Using
the Internet to Enhance Teaching and Learning The Internet is growing exponentially and each day provides more and more resources for teachers and learners of all ages! Dr. Alice Christie will provide a wide variety of resources that may be useful for enhancing teaching and learning in the Language Arts in K-12 classrooms. She will also explore a number of themes relating to enhancing reading and writing skills of today's students, including:

Christie's research has shown that extensive reading and
writing using the Internet and email enhances students'
reading and writing skills extensively. It also prepares
them to be literate citizens of the 21st century. |
