Ashley T

I was born in Phoenix, Arizona. I am the oldest of three children, and I have one older half-sister. I have lived in the same house since I was two years old. Iam quiet and shy and one of my biggest fears is speaking in front of a group of my peers.

I attended Montessori Preschool, Roadrunner Elementary, and Palo Verde Junior High. I graduated from Cortez High School this May. In my four years there, I was involved in spiritline, student council, drama, NHS, SHS, FCA, peer mediation, and Just One/Interact. Last March, my cheer squad and I performed in a Nationals competition in Disneyland and placed sixth. I graduated third in my class and mustered up enough courage to give a speech at graduation.

I am also involved in my church, Vineyard Christian Fellowship of North Phoenix. I have been a part of the dance team, worship team, and children's ministry. Currently, I am only involved in children's ministry. I teach a four- year-old's class with my boyfriend, Ricky.

I recently started a new job as a service cashier at Midway Auto Team. Before that, I was a party hostess at Peter Piper Pizza at Arrowhead and a busgirl at one of my favorite restaurants, Pedro's.

My Role in The Freshman Experience Web Site

I have been a letter writer. My group and I have written letters to the freshman English teachers letting them know about our project and asking them to pass out a survey to their students so that we could gather data for our site. We also wrote a letter to all of the administration, faculty, and staff asking them to fill out a survey so that we could have their input as well. I also distributed the surveys to the administration, faculty, and staff as well as the students' surveys to their teachers. I wrote thank you letters to faculty and administration who have helped us complete our project.
