My freshman students in CSE 180 were bright, energetic, and anxious to learn. Many of them brought considerable technology skills with them to to this class, so we were able to accomplish more more than I had originally planned.

I wanted to make their final experience worthwhile, personally engaging, and challenging. In considering how to best apply all the skills they learned in CSE 180, I felt creating a web site on the ASU West Freshman Experience would be most appropriate. Not only would it help them reflect on their first semester at ASU West, it would provide a history of the first freshman class and provide a resource for future ASU West students.

With the project defined, each student chose to become part of one of eight different teams: data collectors, data manipulators, survey creators, letterhead creators, webpage designers, interviewers, letter writers, and photographers. We also had three monitors who helped keeped each team on task and coordinated efforts between teams.
