51.Cape Plumbago PLUMBAGO auriculata
Evergreen, viny shrub that blooms in cycles during warm weather, grows in mounds 3-4 ft. high, average soil, part to full sun, moderate water, foliage damaged at 28 degrees F.
Location: Raised planters along north side of CLCC and Sands.

52. Chinese Oleander THEVETIA peruviana
Yellow oleander is a large shrub or small tree native to tropical America, fast growing to 20 ft. as a tree, yellow or apricot blossoms any time of year, all parts of plant are poisonous, evergreen, good drainage, ample water, foliage damaged at 28 degrees F.
MAP Location: Raised planters north side of CLCC and Sands.

53. Purple Plum PRUNUS cerasifera
Deciduous, more rounded form and faster growing than other flowering plums, reaching 25 to 30 ft. high, foliage is coppery red when new, deepening to dark purple, then gradually becoming deep, bronzy green in late summer, deep enriched soil with good drainage, full sun, moderate water, hardy to cold, accepts heat with irrigation.
Location: Along mall between Sands and UCB and scattered around FAB And CLCC.

54. Photinia PHOTINIA fraseri
Evergreen, moderate grower 10 to 12 ft. high and as wide, leaves red-tinted in cold weather, lacy white flowers in spring, tolerant of all soils, alkaline soils may produce chlorosis, moderate to deep irrigation on a regular basis, hardy to 5 degrees F. , thrives in hot sun.
Location: Along mall between Sands, UCB, FAB, CLCC.

55. Cape Honeysuckle TECOMARIA capensis
Evergreen, vining plant with orange-red, trumpet-shaped flowers in fall and winter, fast grower,good soil and good drainage, part to full sun, moderate water, new growth damaged at 28 degrees F.
MAP Location: Along mall area and scattered throughout the campus.

56. Carolina Jasmine GELSEMIUM sepervirens
Evergreen, not a true jasmine, moderate growth rate, yellow trumpet shaped flowers, poisonous, tolerant of all soils, full to part shade, moderate water, loves heat.
Location: Ground cover around Arizona Orchids behind UCB .

57. Hibiscus ROSA-sinensis
Tropical color , shelter from hot winds and intense sun in the lower zone, plant in spring after danger of frost is gone, evergreen, good drainage is a must, soak deeply , allow soil to dry and plant to almost wilt before watering, foliage damaged at about 25 degrees –freezes below that but recovers quickly with feeding and irrigation.
Location: Planter around Kiva and along north and south side of Sands.

58. Evergreen Pear PYRUS kawakamii
White blossoms in late winter before other plants bloom, moderate growth to 25 ft. with crown spread as wide in rich deep soils—15 to 20ft. In desert, subject to iron chlorosis and zinc deficiency, needs good drainage, part shade to full sun, moderate water, hardy to cold but can become deciduous in coldest winters.
MAP Location: Lawn area west side of Sands.

59. Raywood Ash FRAXINUS angustifolia
Round-headed, compact, fast growing tree 20-25ft. tall with purple-red fall color, no seeds, moderate water, loose soil with good drainage, part to full or reflected sun, hardy, tolerant of heat.
Location: West side of Sands classroom in lawn.

60. Cat's Claw Vine MACFADYENA unguis-cati
Evergreen in warm climates, will climb and attach itself with 3-clawed tendrils to any surface, yellow trumpet shaped flowers in spring, tolerant of poor soil, shady walls to walls in sun, tolerates wide range of water, turns purple with cold.
Location: Growing on fences surrounding service yards east and west of Fletcher library.
