Introduction
Scott and Robbie, the two boys survived their night in the Sonoran desert, using their instincts and the resources they had available. Using the resources you find on the Internet, you will learn even more about desert suvival and create a plan so that YOU TOO can survive DANGER IN THE DESERT!
Task
You have two tasks in this webquest.
1) Research Internet resources to find information on desert survival.
2) Create a plan for surviving in the desert.
Process
Use the resources listed to make notes on the six main elements of a survival plan.
The six main elements of a survival plan are:
1) First Aid
2) Fire
3) Shelter
4) Signals
5) Water
6) Food
Use the note-making cards to record and organize the information. Remember to write down the source of the information. This is called "citing your sources." If you don't cite your sources, people might mistake someone else's work for your own. This is called plagiarism, and it is a form of cheating.
After you have gathered enough information to create your survival plan, you can begin creating it.
For your survival plan, you will need a minimum of seven pieces of paper. The first piece of paper should be labeled "Desert Survival Plan." Write one paragraph explaining the importance of a plan for surviving in the desert.
Label the top of ther rest of the pages with each of the six categories above. Write the information that you found about each category on each page. At the bottom of the page, write down your sources.
Neatly organize your information into a folder, or staple it together. You're finished!
