Finding Petitions
The following sites are listed in order of usefulness for finding petitions
and petition-related information on specific topics.
- Current AI Campaigns (AI
worldwide) has many excellent pre-written petitions and issue/letter
writing guides on multiple issues. This is definitely
a first stop when seaking petitions.

Hints: After clicking on the link above, choose
a relevant campaign. Look for phrase like "act now", "urgent actin" or
"take action". Many of these pages have such links on side bars on the
right and left sides of the page.
- Online
Action Center (AI USA) lists current online actions
and has many excellent pre-written petitions and issue/letter
writing. If you sign up, you can log on and then choose more actions by
ISSUE or COUNTRY.

- AI Library
/ Online Documentation Archive (AI
worldwide) provides extensive AI documentation relevant to writing
petitions. May be searched by country, region, sub-region, or theme.
http://web.amnesty.org/library/engindex
Hints: Many documents,
especially the extensive reports and urgent actions, list clearly and
concisely the expectations/goals of Amnesty International. These expectations
can easily be transformed into an authorized AI letter / petition.
ALL EXTENSIVE REPORTS have such listings at the end of the document and
at the end of major sections. Once you do it once or twice these become
fairly easy and reliable sources.

has twenty or so appeals on various issues. These appeals include
background information and usually a prewritten letter. This page
focus on new current worldwide appeals but links to addtional
active and
finished
appeals.

order. These appeals provide background information but not a
prewritten letter.
Hints: This
page is difficult to use if you are looking for appeals/petitions on
particular subjects. However, it can be scanned for related information.
- All Appeals
(by Country) (AI
worldwide) lists all active worldwide appeals by country. These appeals
provide background information but not a
prewritten letter. Useful for finding geographically relevant petition
information. However, not all countries have issues listed.

- Current
Appeals (AI

Hints: You
can use these sites directly or use an advanced
