Drug Use Among Adults Arrested by the Phoenix, Arizona Police Department

Results from Maricopa County/Phoenix, Arizona’s Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring (ADAM) Program show that female adults arrested by the Phoenix Police Department are substantially more likely to test positive for drug use than males. Specifically, females are more likely to test positive for cocaine, opiates and any drug use. Male arrestees in Maricopa County are more likely to test positive for marijuana when compared to female arrestees. The percentage of female and male arrestees testing positive for methamphetamine and multiple drug use is about the same.
