              1999 - 2000 Adult Findings Qts. 1 - 3     Maricopa County

  Results from the Maricopa County Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring (ADAM) Program indicate slightly less drug use among male arrestees during the first three quarters of 2000 than in 1999.  Specifically, in 2000 male arrestees were less likely to use Marijuana       ( 36% vs. 34%), Methamphetamines (16% vs. 12%), and Opiates (8% vs. 6%) than 1999.  However, there was a slight increase in Cocaine (31% vs. 30%) use among male arrestees during 2000.     

  Results from the Maricopa County Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring (ADAM) Program show that during the first three quarters of 2000 female arrestees were just as likely as in 1999 to test positive for Marijuana (24%).   However, female arrestees were less likely to test positive for Cocaine (45% vs. 36%), Methamphetamine (31% vs. 26%), and Opiates (11% vs. 7%) in 2000 than in 1999.
