Preparing for an Audience Question and Answer Session

  1. Write down every question that you think you might be asked
  2. Ask others to pose possible questions on your speech topic
  3. Practice answering each question
  4. Spend extra time practicing what you believe are the more difficult questions
  5. Try to anticipate the mood of the audience (e.g., hostile, friendly, curious, etc.)
  6. Talk to friends and colleagues about your topic to increase your comfort level
  7. Research your audience in order to anticipate their possible interests
  8. Ensure that in your presentation you answer obvious questions
  9. Make a list of resources on your topic that you can offer to your audience to provide additional information
  10. Relax! If you have done all of this preparation, you will be well prepared to deliver your speech, confident in your knowledge and abilities
