Context – How Speech Gets Meaning

  1. Every word matters.

  2. Understand what impact a change in wording or media has on the audience.

  3. Research is crucial so that you have a complete understanding of the topic.

  4. You can’t develop meaning if you don’t understand it yourself.

  5. Use explicit context rather than hidden context.

  6. Make sure that all parts of your speech have a connection with each other.

  7. Remember that some words have multiple meanings

  8. It’s important to consider what effect these words have on the audience.

  9. Audience culture, attitude, and perception create meaning.

  10. Remember to get audience feed back so you can clarify.
