Giving an Informative Speech 

  1. Be familiar with the outline of an informative speech
  2. Explain something that the audience is unfamiliar with and will find interesting
  3. Excite the audience with an attention getter (e.g., a question, story, etc.)
  4. Identify your main points
  5. Concentrate on why the audience may be interested in what you are saying
  6. Give information and support it with examples
  7. Summarize your messages because if they are too long you will lose your audience’s attention
  8. Do your research so you sound credible
  9. Be familiar with your speech outline and how to use your visual aids so your speech sounds and looks polished
  10. Refer to the beginning of your speech and the important points made during your closing
