Giving a Persuasive Speech 

  1. Be familiar with the persuasive outline
  2. Establish what you want to persuade the audience to do
  3. Do your research so you sound like an expert and can defend your position to the audience
  4. Deliver the message using an organized pattern
  5. Adapt the message to the audience (i.e., Know who your audience is.)
  6. Distinguish fact from opinion
  7. Recognize that your audience may not agree with you
  8. Use your visual aids correctly
  9. Establish your Ethos, Logos, and Pathos
  10. Mind your physical appearance (e.g., maintain eye contact, have good posture, vary your voice, etc.)
