Resources & Referrals

Arizona State University West is committed to a promotion of a campus that values diversity of views, cultures and experiences critical to the academic mission of higher education. To achieve these goals, a number of University services exist to provide members of the community with the resources they need to protect their rights and needs. The Campus Environment Team works closely with these services, and can refer or counsel individuals in requesting support from these resources.

Some of these services and units include:

ASU Ombudsperson Program

"An ombudsperson can help faculty, academic and service professionals, administrative and classified staff, students or members of the public deal with problems they might have with the University system. We provide an informal means of problem resoultion should you have a University-related dispute. Ombudspersons are not empowered to change a decision, but through clarification of matters, information may emrge to assist in the resolution of the dispute."

Ombudspersons and their telephone numbers are listed in the campus directory, in the current ASU Committee Roster, and in the Schedule of Classes. In addition, University Ombudsperson Committee brochures are available throughout the campus.

Human Resources Department

"ASU West recognizes the importance of providing avenues to assist employees in resolving issues that may affect job performance or personal well-being."

To this end, services available from Human Resources include resources such as

Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Office

"Discrimination is prohibited on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, citizenship, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, special disabled veteran or Vietnam era veteran status. Equal employment opportunity includes but is not limited to: recruitment, hiring, promotion, termination, compensation, benefits, transfers, university-sponsored training, education, tuition assistance, and social and recreational programs."
