The multiplicity of cultures and groups represented at ASU's West campus can be an educational asset toward creating a culturally competent cadre of students. There is a need and an opportunity to promote positive intergroup relations and increase intergroup awareness and understanding among students, faculty, and staff. One of the most effective ways to promote greater understanding among different groups is to bring individuals from those groups together for honest, reflective face-to-face dialogue within a safe context and guided by trained facilitators (intergroup dialogues). Through the process of interacting with each other, participants embark on a voyage of discovery, getting to know each other both on a personal and group basis. The main objective is to foster intergroup understanding among students. This is precisely the goal of the Voices of Discovery Program.
