Disability Resource Center Consultations

The DRC Director and Disability Access Consultant are available to meet with faculty or staff to discuss specific situations involving students or other disability-specific circumstances. Candor and confidentiality are of utmost importance in these instances and all manner of professionalism and resourcefulness is utilized.

Disability Resource Center Presentations

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) staff is available for presentations, workshops, or trainings on a variety of disability-related topics. The presentations can be tailored to the subject desired, the audience, and the length of time available. One hour is an appropriate length for most presentations, though this can be modified from 10-minute introductions to topics, to day-long trainings. Below are a few suggested topics with timely information, but any ideas are open for discussion.

DRC information: What we have, what is needed to qualify, what we do.
General disability information: Brief overview of disability information.
General disability awareness/sensitivity: Language, etiquette, simulation exercises.
Any specific disability; e.g., learning disabilities, mobility impaired, etc.: Characteristics, manifestitations at the post-secondary level, accommodations.
The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act): Implications for ASU's West Campus.
Resource information for students with disabilities: Where to refer people for what.
Equipment/technology for people with disabilities: What is available at ASU's West Campus.
Disability Culture: What is it? What makes it a culture?
