Access@West - Accessibility and Adaptive Technology Vision Statement

We provide leadership and awareness within the ASU West community in promoting the principles of universally accessible design to ensure full participation by students with disabilities.

Universal Design

Universal design is "the design of products and environments to be usable by all people, to the greatest extent possible, without the need for adaptation or specialized design." (Center for Universal Design, North Carolina State University).

Functions of Access@West - Accessibility and Adaptive Technology

  • Research, acquire and install specialized applications for use by students and/or faculty to provide a fully integrated environment for students with disabilities.
  • Assist students in obtaining the services and support needed to succeed.
  • Advise Disability Resource Center on specific needs for students.
  • Interact with departments to ensure campus-wide integration.
