Education
Ph.D., University of Houston, History

Dr. Ukpanah’s expertise is in the areas of African History since 1400; African American History; and Origins of Racism in Western Culture. Professor Ukpanah has recently completed research on the black resistance press in African national politics during the 1940s and 1950s. He brings over ten years of teaching experience to Arizona State University West.

Professor Ukpanah teaches the following courses: Europe and the World I, Topic in Comparative History, the African Diaspora and the Proseminar
