General InformationASU's West campus Diablo Performance and Recreation Center is located in the basement of the University Center Building and is open to students, faculty/staff, family members and alumni on a fee for service basis. Students will need to swipe their Sun Card for access to the Center. Students also have the option of signing up for either step aerobics classes or adult fitness classes for credit while spaces are available. Non ASU-affiliate individuals may sign-up for the Facility on a non-credit schedule, on a monthly or multiple monthly basis. The facility is open Monday - Saturday for the entire year, and is closed on regular University holidays. The 6,000 square foot facility houses a fully equipped weight room, aerobics room, men's and women's locker rooms, and is accessible to accommodate individuals with disabilities. Amenities at the center include group aerobic classes, weight machines/free weights, cardiovascular equipment and the capability to do fitness assessments and body composition analysis. New members of the facility can receive instruction on equipment usage and program development from any "Team Fitness" staff, or they may setup an individual session with the Director for more specific questions which they might have. Non-members who are interested in body composition or blood pressure assessments may also talk to the Director for an assessment. In addition to a fully equipped fitness center, the facility also checks out recreation equipment with any ASU ID card for use on its basketball courts, racquetball courts, sand volleyball courts, and the multipurpose soccer/football field. These fields are located directly west of the Sands classroom building and south of the University Center Building. The Diablo Performance and Recreation Center is always staffed by one or more "Team Fitness" members, who are available to help you with questions on strength training and cardiovascular equipment usage. If they are unable to answer your questions, they will direct you to the Director or someone else on campus to help with your question. The fitness center Director is available to help you with program development, blood pressure checks, body composition analysis and other fitness assessments you may be interested in. We do have certified professional trainers available for an additional fee. |
