Arizona State University West - Instructional Technology Lab

Purpose:

The lab is designed to provide faculty and staff with technology assistance and training in the fields of teaching and presentation. The lab also provides workshops and demonstrations on new technology for teaching and learning, as well as providing access to scarce tools and equipment.

Usage:

The technology resources in the lab are provided on a first-come, first-served basis and are generally to be used for short term projects. If long term use is required, or if you have specific technology needs, please call the IT Help Desk at 3-4357 and schedule an appointment with an IT Consultant who will be able to discuss the various options with you. This equipment is provided for use by university faculty and staff only. Students may use the facilities in Technopolis.

Cost:

The resources in the ITL are provided by the UTO as a service to faculty and staff and there is no cost to the customer for using the lab, however customers must bring their own removable media as well as pay for specialized printing to the networked devices in the Copy Center.

Staff:

The staff of the ITL is well trained and has familiarity with all of the tools available in the lab. While staff members are not experts on all tools, they can

  • provide recommendations on the use of the equipment and software,
  • assist in the use of the tools available, and
  • advise users on personalized training options in the pursuit of acquiring technology skills.

Location:

The ITL is located in the basement on the east side of the FAB building in room B12.

Hours:

The ITL is open for thirty hours each week during the fall and spring semesters and twenty hours per week in the summer.  These times will include both morning and afternoon availability.  The actual hours of operation may vary slightly from semester to semester, but will always be posted on the home page of this site. The lab is closed for routine maintenance and repairs when classes are not in session.
