Definitions:

OmniPage Software that allows you to take a picture of information that is on paper and convert it into editable text on a computer.

PhotoShop Software that allows you to scan pictures into the computer. It also used to manipulate pictures. Such as changing the color, size, brightness, hue and more.

Corel Draw Software that allows you to scan pictures into the computer. It also used to manipulate pictures. Such as changing the color, size, brightness, hue and more.

dpi Abbreviation of dots per inch, which indicates the resolution of images. The more dots per inch, the higher the resolution. A common resolution for laser printers is 300 dots per inch. This means 300 dots across and 300 dots down, so there are 90,000 dots per square inch.

Transparency Adapter Device that is attached to the scanner to allow scanning of negatives and tranparencies.

OCR Abbreviation of optical character recognition, refers to the branch of computer science that involves reading text from paper and translating the images into a form that the computer can manipulate (for example, into ASCII codes). An OCR system enables you to take a book or a magazine article and feed it directly into an electronic computer file.
