Apple Remote Desktop:

Classroom Management Software for Macintosh Computer Classrooms

ARD IconComputer classrooms on ASU's West campus have a station for the presenter and stations for students. The instructor station in CLCC 216 has Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) 2 installed and available from the software dock at the bottom of the instructor's screen. The software is configured to talk to all student workstations in the room. With this software, you can easily broadcast to, take control of, silently monitor, black out or communicate with all or individual STUDENT workstations in the room.

Running ARD From the Instructor Station

  • Click on the ARD binoculars in the Dock at bottom of your screen.
  • All computers currently in use for your classroom should appear in the ARD window in the Master List.
  • Highlight the name of the machine(s) you wish to connect with remotely, and choose an option from the ARD menu (Observe, Control, Share Screen, Lock Screen,...). You can Control only one at a time but you can Observe several at a time.
