Downloadable Web Content: Images, Clipart, Fonts, etc.There are a variety of free or low-cost images and other Web-oriented resources available for download. Sites offering this content change their policies often, new sites become available and old sites disappear, so use your favorite search engine to look for these resources. As a developer, it is important that you verify your page will look the way you want it to on a variety of browsers and versions. Internet Explorer (Windows), Firefox (cross-platform), and Safari (Macintosh), our supported browsers, often display Web code differently. Test on all of them! Test on small monitors! Test on older model machines! Test on Macs and Wintel platforms! Test for accessibility barriers to people with visual disability! TutorialsLook on-line for software, coding and design tutorials. Software publishers often list tutorials for their own products and an Internet search engine can find many sites offering tutorials in all three categories. Web HostingFaculty, students and staff can host (publish) pages on our West campus servers. (see "Publishing Web Sites") For those interested in personal, off-campus hosting, there are many companies offering hosting services from very basic (and sometimes free) to feature-rich (and possibly expensive). You can find these service providers using an Internet search (look for "web hosting"). You will need to explore not only cost, but also what features and supported tools you will need, since each hosting service offers a different mix. |
