Connecting From Las Casas (WestResNet)

In order to connect to the Internet and the ASU network from a Las Casas apartment, your computer will need to have Windows 2000, Windows XP, Macintosh OS X (10.3+), or the Linux operating system. See the Windows Connections and Macintosh/Linux Connections sections below for specific setup and connection instructions.

You will also need a wired Ethernet card or built-in Ethernet capability and a standard Ethernet cable (with RJ45 connector). Your Ethernet card should be set to use 10-Mbps/half-duplex settings.

Connections to the network are managed by Cisco Clean Access. Cisco Clean Access will regularly scan your computers for virus/worm activity and will ensure your computer has the most recent operating system and antivirus updates before allowing network access. If you do not have the most recent updates, you will be allowed restricted network access in order to update your computer.

All users must provide their ASURITE UserID and password to log on to the ASU network prior to the computer scan.

Windows Connections

Las Casas Windows users must download and run the Cisco Clean Access Agent, which is a software client that facilitates a network logon and computer scan.

Macintosh/Linux Connections

Las Casas Macintosh and Linux users do not have to install a client. Just open any Web browser to have your page redirected to an ASU network access logon page (see sample page). Cisco Clean Access will scan the computer for virus activity after logon and prior to allowing full access to the network.
