Eric Border's Family Object
This is my family history book, entitled The Thuma Book, is a book that gives the history of my mother’s family immigrating to the United States. It goes back tot the first person to immigrate to the United States all the way up to my generation. Because of the information and family history that it contains, it is very valuable to my family. My mother’s side of the family originally came from Niederdorff Amt Waldenberg Canton of Baselland Switzerland. This was a German speaking part of Switzerland. They immigrated to the United States in 1736 to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. They immigrated to the United States mainly for religious freedom. They were Protestant and this was not a very popular religion in their area at the time. They endured religious persecution years. It took several attempts before they received permission to leave Switzerland and come to the United States.
