Family Object: Red Bolivarian Glass
I did some research on my family and brought an
object in from home and gave a
little presentation. This is what I
wrote about:
This is Red Bavarian Glass. It means very much to my family, it is
the only item we have from my father’s side of the family left. My
family is originally from Trier, Germany, but at the time it was
located in Prussia. Trier is near the border of France. They
immigrated over to the U.S. around the mid 1700’s. They came in
through New York and eventually moved on to Wisconsin. They moved to
Wisconsin because it reminded them of being back at home. They
immigrated to the U.S. because they were sick of all the leadership
and wars that was going on.
An
interesting couple of fact about my family, my great (and it keeps
going for a while) grandfather was in the Napoleon Guard. Also
my last name was originally spelled Pauli. Then it got changed when my family
came over to the U.S. to Pauly. Then my grandfather had
it changed on him when he was born to Pauley.
