_____ A. ALWAYS STEP ONE! Map your drive on our course web server site: Right click on MyComputer; select Map Network Drive \\westinfo.west.ad.asu.edu\classweb\koptiuch\Mig2005
_____ B. Create your personal folder. Make new folder on desktop and label with your last name. Move to course Mig2005 folder. Save your web pages here. [File > open site > yourfolder.]
_____ C. Create your image folder. Make another folder inside your personal folder and label it “images.” Save all your image files to this folder.
_____ D. Create your home page (index.htm). Open the program FrontPage, create a new page, and ‘save as’ index.htm in your personal folder: classweb/koptiuch/Mig2005/yourname. Your personal home page will link to all pages of your web portfolio.

Change
internal
title of each page [File >
page properties > title box > rename it].

Create a table
to design your home page. [3 rows, 2 columns,
centered, 95% width] IT staff will give complete instructions for
creating
a table—take notes!

Insert
the
banner for our course in top
row
(insert migbanner.gif from the Mig2005 folder)

Create a
‘return’ link in bottom row: Return
to Migration & Culture home page. Link it to the main index.html file in our
course
Mig2005 folder.

Add a
link
to your email address
(mailto:):
[Tap globe icon>envelope icon, enter email addr]

List the
required project titles in
left column,
center row (see G). These
will
be linked to your web pages for the projects. Change the titles later to reflect your actual project titles.

Put your
home
page title in right column,
center
row (e.g. Yourname’s Home Page).
_____ F. Create a template page. Open your index.htm file, “save as” template.htm to your folder.

Open your
index.htm
and ‘save as’ template.htm.
·
Create a ‘return’
link: Return to my
homepage (link to your index.htm file).
·
Again insert
course
banner at top of page; put
your
name on the page somewhere too.
·
Change
internal
title of each page [File >
page properties > title box > rename it].

web pages from template for
your web portfolio materials.
Open
your template page (F), ‘save as’ each of the pages below.

Do all if
time, do at least three or four if no time, so that you’ll have a
model
for later

Title
each
project on the page as a
reminder
(you can change it to actual title later).

interview class project

openletter.htm— Open Letter wrap-up comment
reflecting
on what you learned this semester.

_____ H. Edit your index.htm page and make links to your eight web pages. Don’t get fancy for now, just do it. Save the changes and test your links.
_____ I. IF Time: Copy an image from the Test Images page to your folder. Resize it using Photoshop Elements. Insert the image on your index page.
