DAWN'S PAGE
Professional
My name is Dawn Poh, and I work in the Department of Communication Studies, College of Human Services, at ASU West. I am the administrative assistant to twelve full-time faculty members. I have been with the College of Human Services for nine years, and in the Department of Communication Studies for over eight years. I truly enjoy my job. It is a pleasure to work with the wonderful faculty members in our department.
I am an American Studies major and attend classes after work. I hope to complete my degree by the time my daughter graduates from college (she is currently a senior in high school!)
Personal
My husband of twenty-five years, Alan, lived on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, during his teenage years. His dream is to move back "home" someday. We try and return every two years for our vacation; our kids love it as much as we do.
Our son, Daniel, is 20 years old. He just took up snowboarding last year and loves going to Sunrise and Snowbowl. I've been told that he is "awesome" on his board. Daniel also is a great boogie-boarder, and spends most of his time in Hawaii on his board, along with his Dad and sister.
Our daughter, Kalani, is 18 years old. Her name is Hawaiian and means "sent from heaven." She is a certified scuba diver, but does not like to snorkel. She'd rather go deep down than just below the surface of the ocean. Her Dad also is certified as a scuba diver; however, they have yet to dive together!
I, on the other hand, love to snorkel. It is one of my favorite things to do, especially in Hawaii. Pictured below is Hanauma Bay, a beautiful nature preserve on the island of Oahu. It is one of the first places we go to upon arrival. I had the good fortune to swim with four huge sea turtles summer, which was an unbelievable, amazing experience. I also saw a huge moray eel face to face, which was much too close for comfort!
Thanks for looking!
