Yogi Carmichael

The poet who writes under the pen-name "Yogi Carmichael" is a familiar face at ASU West. Don't miss Yogi's thoughts on Diane Wakoski and how the act plays out when all the world's a stage.

National Mindmapping Week
by Yogi Carmichael

Columbus Balboa Hudson Drake

earthmapping surfaces fast with greedy hand flagplanting.

NASA marsmapping
surface softscooping with a cold voyaging arm microbeless sands.

Enter Magellans of mindmapping
let your right brain have a say.

Is that so?

Valleys, sinusoidal ups-and-downs, abyssmal grand canyons,
cry-me-a rivers, sob-story seas,

land masses of disconnected desire,
cities of sardinedensity thoughts
Rarefied countrypeace musings: roads less traveled

but for recreation and daydreaming.

Central schema: i am that.
i am mind, i am map,

independent of God's daydreaming.

Is that so?

Dream: nightmare, people, crooks, chasing. Scared, crying.
Scream, dying, sweatwaking, alarm,

crooks gone, people gone.

Where?
Same place we go when God wakes

gone.
Goals, aims, desires,
money, job, play, thinness,
svelte spinachstomachs,

fun, love, longlife, safety,

no pain.

Oh oh, ‘safety.’

Red flag.

Nice family of five, opening doors and arms.

Smiling, helping needy couple;

today are found bloody dead on turning the seedy pair out.

Mindmap impossible dreams, locate brain, right brain,

any small portion of brain, in perpetrators:

traitors against happiness.

Why is that so?

No self, no mind, no goals, no future, no past,

no story.

Columbus discovers America indeed.

Mindpolluting

bullies: TV advertisement, propaganda, politicians.

Sue them: mental malpractice, mind abuse.

Soulpolluting:

Carry a gun, carry a baby, wear designer jeans

tight.

Right. i mapped my mind.

Wanted, got everything,

all of it: duality, blissdepression.

Better to love and lose
than never to have loved at all.

Is that so?

Dreams buried with the murdered,

ammunition in weapons of the crazed,

death music of looneytunes.

Different world.

Need map through wreckedcar carcasses, strewn bodies,

rat's maze. Changing times.
Big cheese just around the corner

that was just around the corner where

Magritte was painting himself painting himself.

Jaggedpane window, Dalíclock lock, thieving innocence,

innocent in some far past.

Dog eat dog,
big fish swallow smaller fish gulp littler fish eat eat, . . .
Never mind Somalia, Sudan, and Ethiopia:

all in a day's work.

Somebody's map.

Stomachmapping: a process to behold.

Big restaurantworld; Woody Allen says so,
but what does he know,
gone to mindmapping heaven.
Brainsunset that is

So

the moon fails to illuminate,

eliminate negatives, ac-cen-tu-ate the positive.

Positive thinking: easy cure.

Easy for you to say so.

Everything sounds so true, reasonable, logical, right,
'Absence makes the heart grow fonder.'
'Out of sight, out of mind.'
What purposes call up wordweapons these?
Truth
gone.

No answer.

Flee to desert, mountain, island, retreat, commune with nature.

Map your areas, your yard, your dog, your palm, your. . .

Bodymapping more fun.

Left right bodies merge, brains merge, minds merge, souls merge, . . .

Eastwest yinyang yinyang dog

gone.

Hide hide the cow's outside.

Crowdhiding we are hit

gone.
Foresthiding we are chopped down
gone.

Surfacehiding we are scooped up

but not for long.

Gone.

Hide hide the cows.

We all become vegetarians

gardencultivating on last unpolluted peninsulas of mind

to find lost treasure map, map, any map.

X marks the spots before my mind's eye;

sanity awaiting, largelooming on the horizon.

Oh oh, ‘sanity,’

red flag.

Society mindmapping: busy charting, drawing, mapping, limning,

finding themselves,

dreaming God creating me
dreaming
God
