Writing at Arizona State University West

The Department of American Studies offers a number of writing courses, mostly in nonfiction, which may apply toward a Writing Certificate. The Writing Certificate Program has been accepted as a minor in the Department of Integrative Studies and as an area of concentration in the College of Education. Working professionals often serve as guest faculty for ASU West. Among these are Bob Early of Arizona Highways Magazine and Jerry Sieve of Phoenix Magazine. In addition to PaloVerde, the department also sponsors the campus newspaper, ASU West Express.  Veteran journalist Peter Aleshire serves as advisor for this weekly tabloid. ASU West Express is written by and edited by Arizona State University West students. Its staff welcomes inquiries and contributions.
