Ceremony Information

Congratulations to those of you who will be graduating this year! You're almost there! Please review the Key Ceremony information listed below to know what to expect for the Commencement ceremony and the College Convocation ceremonies. ASU’s West campus Convocation Web site provides you information and resources related to the upcoming convocation, so please check frequently for updated information. Commencement is the official graduation ceremony in which the President of ASU confers degrees upon all graduates.

Instructions: The ceremony will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. and will run approximately 75 minutes. During the ceremony the Dean of your college will ask you to stand. Please listen and stand at the appropriate time.

West campus has chartered motor coaches to transport graduates and members of their family to Commencement in Tempe on Thursday, Dec 17. The buses will board at 7:00 am for travel to Tempe and will return to the West campus following the ceremony.

Convocation is a celebratory ceremony in which students are individually recognized by the college for their educational achievements.

Instructions: All graduates are to check in one hour prior to their ceremony. Students should ask their guests to carry personal items. You will receive in the mail a card with your name on it. Bring the card to the convocation ceremony. The card will be given to the person reading names at the ceremony, and will be given to Chappell Studios which will be taking photos that day. Please fill out the address portion of the card.

Graduates giving high fives Each College Convocation will last approximately one hour. If you or your guest(s) require any disability accommodations, please contact 602-543-5306 by May 1.

Caps and gowns are worn at commencement and convocation and can be purchased with a college tassel at the ASU Bookstore before De. 15. All academic honors cords may be worn over the graduation gown. Extra honors cords and tassels will not be available at the ceremony. The Grad Fair will take place at the West campus on October 12 and 13 from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
