Exhibit is culmination of week in residence at university
Carole Kim, an internationally known interdisciplinary artist, will unveil her performance installation at ASU’s West campus at 3:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, in the University Center Building, Second Stage West. The piece, “[moor] ROOM,” explores Kim’s ongoing interest in the illusory spatial architecture of layered video projections with the addition of recorded and live sound.
The Los Angeles-based artist has worked in the mediums of performance, installation, sculpture, video, digital imaging, movement improvisation and mixed-media assemblage. “At its roots, Kim’s work investigates art as a form of interaction that can involve anywhere from a few people to everyone who enters a space. She’s also engaged in the challenge of making video a more plastic, responsive-in-the-moment medium utilizing the camera as a visual instrument. Her current focus is on improvisational time-based media performance, often interfacing with the new music community,” said Jeff Kennedy, associate artistic director for ASU’s D
Kim’s performances will be the culmination of a week in residence at ASU’s West campus where she worked with department students who helped her install the piece. Admission for “[moor] ROOM” is free; event parking is $2.
