Native American dancers and drum groups from throughout Arizona will participate in the fifth annual Traditional Pow Wow at Arizona State University’s West campus on Saturday, Nov. 12. The Veterans Day weekend event brings traditional Native American arts and crafts, food, music and dancing to the
“The Veterans Day Weekend Traditional Pow Wow is becoming known in the Indian community as a welcoming place for socializing and dancing,” said Dennis Eagleman, an ASU finance major, co-chair of the Native American Events Committee and a member of the Native American Student Organization.
A variety of dances will be performed throughout the event, including tribal dance groups, gourd dancing and two grand entries, scheduled at noon and 7 p.m. The main objective of the pow wow is to honor the contribution of Native American military veterans, Eagleman said.
