Jan. 7, 2005

Ramsey Eric Ramsey featured on KFNX-AM to discuss 'Questions science can't ask'

Arizona State University philosopher and author, Ramsey Eric Ramsey, appeared live on Phoenix radio station KFNX-AM 1100 Talk Radio on Friday to discuss a new book he has co-authored on the scientific worldview and how it plays out in our everyday lives. The book, "Leaving Us to Wonder:  An Essay on the Questions Science Can't Ask," explores the larger social, political, and philosophical contexts in which the current science vs. anti-science debates occur.

Ramsey is associate dean of the Barrett Honors College at ASU's West campus.

Ramsey and co-author Linda Wiener investigate alternatives to scientism, the view that science is the proper and exclusive foundation for thinking about and answering every question. They ask: Does the current technoscientific worldview threaten the pursuit of living well?

A book signing in the Valley is planned for this spring.
