Hundreds of students present designs of 'new' generation international space station

Arizona State University welcomed nearly 500 students to its West campus today for the 7th Annual Honeywell Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge.

Students grades 5 to 8 presented their “out of this world” international space station designs to Honeywell engineers. The event was presented by the Arizona Republic and featured the Microsoft Mission Control.

Designs included physical scale models of their space stations, as well as scientific explanation on how they can sustain life, waste-management systems, food and oxygen supplies, and other information pertaining to life on the space station.

Science and engineering experts from Honeywell judged projects submitted by more than 100 teams. Judges selected five winning teams, who each received a Challenger Space Center simulated space mission and a plaque for their school.
