Arizona State University's West campus presents the third annual "West Side Poetry Jam" as part of Martin Luther King Jr. celebration events on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
This event presents some of the Valley's finest poets performing their original works in the popular and unique Def Jam poetry style. "Thought-provoking, funny, hip, and often deeply serious, this new genre of performance has taken the country by storm," said Jeff Kennedy, associate artistic director for ASU's Department of Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance.
Hosted by local poet Divine and featuring guest poet H.B., the evening will be accompanied by one of the area's hottest hip-hop DJs. Special musical guests will also perform.
"West Side Poetry Jam" will take place in the university's Kiva Hall. Tickets are $10 general, $5 for students.

Tickets are also available at the door or at ASU's West campus cashier office during normal business hours. This event is recommended for mature audiences.
