It seems that I am drawn to volcanic regions. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya where they were just starting to use geothermal energy for electrical generation. When I taught in Costa Rica, we saw Arenal Volcano erupt. I heard that only 1 in 10,000 people see a volcano erupt. In Iceland, almost all the water heating, home heating, and electricity production is through geothermal energy. It made it a very clean place to spend five months. Selected Links Explore Zone: Volcanoes This is the place if you want a quick overview on volcanoes with a cool animated-gif. Teaching Volcanoes A more detailed site with basic and advanced information on volancoes. Lots of neat old photographs. VolcanoWorld A fun place to start your explorations. They call themselves the primer WWW source of volcano information. Volcano Watch A site of the USGS Volcano Observatory in Hawaii.
