Statistics Lab Services The main function of the Stat lab is to provide statistical software and the support to assist, when necessary, ASU's West students lacking the technical knowledge to effectively utilize statistical software (e.g., SPSS and Minitab). That is, the purpose of the Stat Lab is to assist students (at ASU's West campus) with statistical software and NOT with methodological or statistical consultation. We can answer questions on how to run certain statistics but we are not required to tell you which statistics to run. Students needing methodological or statistical consultation may want to seek direction from their professors or their departments. The Stat Lab, located in CLCC 107, is primarily set up to assist students (at ASU West campus) who are currently enrolled in statistic courses, courses in general methods, and any other courses that involve the analysis of quantitative data. The Stat Lab can also assist students with the quantitative analyses of their theses, applied projects, & dissertations. The Stat Lab staff provides technical assistance to students in the application of statistical software. Although the staff frequently do answer general questions students may have with statistical concepts/procedures, the Stat Lab is not set up to provide one-on-one tutorial service on a regular basis. Students requiring tutoring can go to the Student Success Center. The Stat Lab is designed to support students using SPSS or Minitab, however, the lab computers are occasionally installed with other statistical software (contingent on professors/departments ordering the software from the IT department). The lab is currently equipped with 12 public site computers and one printer.
Additionally, the lab has an in-house reference library with information on analyzing and understanding data, as well as information on writing, presenting, and displaying results in APA format.
